People in the Fox Lab
Andrew S. Fox
Drew Fox is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at UC Davis and a Core Scientist in Neuroscience and Behavior and the National Biomedical Research Institute. The Fox lab is interested in understanding the neuroscience of social and emotional behavior in both humans and nonhuman primates. Fox researches modern neuroscientific approaches and computational modeling to understand emotion-related decision-making and the development of social anxiety disorder.
Shawn Kamboj

Shawn is a Biological Psychology Ph.D. Student and Business Development Fellow at UC Davis. Under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Fox, Shawn is working towards broadening our understanding of the genetic and cellular variations underlying dispositional anxiety.
Erin Scott

Erin is a graduate student in the Fox and Tian labs. Erin is interested in working developing tools for neuroscience research and studying neurobiological alterations that contribute to Parkinson’s Disorder.
Erica Varga

Erica is a graduate student in the Fox and Boorman labs. Erica is interested in using computational modeling and statistical learning to better understand how anxiety is instantiated in the brain.
Kyle Puhger
Post-Doctoral Fellow
Kyle received his PhD in Biological Psychology from UC Davis in 2022. As a postdoc in the Fox Lab, he is interested in using machine learning and computational methods to map neuroanatomical circuits in nonhuman primates. Rani Purewal
Graduate Student (Psychology)
Rani is an incoming graduate student in the Fox lab. Rani did her undergraduate training at CSU Sacramento. Rani is interested in using cutting-edge neuroscientific tools to understand how frontal brain regions contribute to anxiety.
Jairo Chavez
Graduate Student (Psychology)
Jairo Chávez is a graduate PhD student in Biological Psychology, where he received his bachelor’s in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Machine Learning and Neural Computation from UC San Diego. Jairo is interested in using statistical learning alongside face recognition to create social networks to better understand anxiety in the brain.

Mesude Okhan
Graduate Student (Psychology)
Mesude received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Uludag University in Turkey and completed her master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Trento in Italy. She joined the Fox Lab in 2024 and is co-advised by Dr. Erie Boorman. Her research interests focus on the neurobiology and computational mechanisms underlying fear and anxiety.
Lillian J. Campos is a former Graduate Student (Psychology) who joined in January 2017. Lillian just defended her PhD!!!
Amanda Chu is a former Junior Reseach Specialist who joined in January 2017. Amanda left to continue her scientific carreer as a Psychology graduate student working with Dr. McDannald at Boston College.
Jacqueline S. Marcil is a former Undergraduate Research Assistant who joined in April 2017. Jackie graduated with her bachelors degree and is now pursuing a masters degree in Clinical Psycholgy at the University of San Diego.
Ruriko A. Imai is a former Undergraduate Research Assistant who joined in October 2017. Ruriko graduated with her bachelors degree and joined IBM Japan as a Data Scientist.
Dan Holley is a former Graduate Student (Psychology) who joined in October 2017. Dan recieved his PhD and is now working as a Lead Data Scientist at Clarity Innovations and the clinical research lead at Neuroflow.
Brian B. Drwecki is a former Visiting Faculty Researcher who joined in October 2017. Dr. Drwecki has returned to his position as an associate professor of psychology at [Regis University](https://www.regis.edu/RC/Academics/Departments-and-Faculty/Psychology.aspx) in Denver Colorado.
Ella Queen is a former Undergraduate Research Assistant who joined in January 2018. Ella graduated with her bachelors degree and joined Google as a Software Engineer.
Yizi Zhang is a former Undergraduate Research Assistant who joined in April 2018. Yizi graduated with her bachelors degree and moved to Duke to pursue graduate study in statistics.
Daniel Koh is a former Junior Research Specialist who joined in June 2020. Daniel was in charge of data collection and furthering the development SOTA machine learning tools.
Carly M. Drzewiecki is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow who joined in March 2021. After completing her post-doctoral training in the FoxLab, Carly accepted a position as a Data Scientist at Clarity Innovations.
